1.1“Mendicants, there are these five drawbacks of bad conduct. 1.2What five? 1.3You blame yourself. 1.4After examination, sensible people criticize you. 1.5You get a bad reputation. 1.6You feel lost when you die. 1.7And when your body breaks up, after death, you’re reborn in a place of loss, a bad place, the underworld, hell. 1.8These are the five drawbacks of bad conduct.

2.1There are these five benefits of good conduct. 2.2What five? 2.3You don’t blame yourself. 2.4After examination, sensible people praise you. 2.5You get a good reputation. 2.6You don’t feel lost when you die. 2.7When your body breaks up, after death, you’re reborn in a good place, a heavenly realm. 2.8These are the five benefits of good conduct.”
